Estoñol is a computer-assisted pronunciation training tool developed to help native speakers of Spanish to train their perception and production of Estonian vowels. The tool’s training program involves seven vowel contrasts, /i-ü, /u-ü/, /a-o/, /a-ä/, /e-ä/, /o-ö/, and /o-õ/, which have proven to be difficult for native speakers of Spanish. The training activities include theoretical videos and four training modes (exposure, discrimination, pronunciation, and mixed) in every lesson. Estoñol has many benefits for language learners. The tool uses automatic speech recognition, which gives the language learner an opportunity to receive corrective feedback, and the systems provide an anxiety-free environment for language learning.
